The Burleigh Heads Single Fin Classic

We feel blessed to be a part of so many special events held here on the Gold Coast. Everything from weddings, to parties and festivals, our tipis are such a unique way to celebrate and a stunning alternative to the standard marquee.

Every now and then an extra special event comes up and The Burleigh Heads Single Fin Classic was one of them.

Last weekend the 19th annual Burleigh Heads Single Fin Classic was held at Burleigh Point, Gold Coast, presented by Billabong and supported by a number of legendary local businesses.

The Burleigh Boardriders Club brought us the first ever Single Fin Classic in 1997, but back then it was known as the Peter Roberts Memorial. Even though it has changed it’s name since 1997, this fun festival is a highlight on the Gold Coast surfing calendar. It’s held in memory of Burleigh Boardriders that have passed from this world and is such an epic event for both surfers and spectators.

So last weekend, nestled on the beautiful Burleigh Headland, we set up one of our traditional Kata Tipis with views stretching north to Surfers Paradise. What a spectacular view! If you were able to get down to the comp on the weekend you would’ve seen our tipi set amongst the other marquees and it was a perfect example of how adaptable our majestic tipis are all year round.

It was a beautiful day so we were able to put all the sides up, allowing for 360-degree views and letting the cool sea breezes carry through. Many people commented on how cool it was beneath the tipi, even in the sweltering QLD heat. This is due to the construction of the tipi, creating ventilation and airflow, keeping them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

We’d like to thank the Burleigh Boardriders Club for an epic, memorable weekend and we look forward to taking part next year.
