Tipi wedding – Ewingsdale Hall

Jess and Chris may have opted for a traditional wedding ceremony, but this couple chose something totally out of the norm for their wedding reception. On arrival their guests shared champagne and canapés in the open air, then they moved inside for dinner and speeches beneath the stunning Kata Tipis. We adored their tablescapes and simple, yet elegant decor that allowed the tipi’s uniqueness to shine through. Later, the party moved inside the heritage listed Ewingsdale Hall, where everyone really let their hair down. Oh what a night!

What made you choose tipis for your wedding?

We chose the tipis for our wedding for 2 reasons. We were having a traditional ceremony in a beautiful old church so we wanted to do something a bit different by having the tipis, plus they added a definite wow factor.

What advice do you have for people who are planning a tipi wedding?

My advice for people having a tipi wedding is to listen to Gold Coast Tipi owners Hannah and Benn. They know exactly what they are doing and are super professional. I had no dramas with anything on the day – I would listen to their suggestions.

What styling tips are a must for our tipis?

A must for styling the tipis is adding greenery and festoon lights.

What was it like having your wedding reception beneath the katas?

Our wedding day really did turn out perfectly. I knew I wanted the teepee tents from the get go and I’m stoked I stuck with my image. Besides them looking amazing, they are cosy and everyone interacted so well inside.
