Do you want to invite children to your wedding, but feeling a little hesitant? Many couples choose to include children in their wedding celebrations and the secret is… preparation.
Here are a few ways you can create a chilled-out child friendly wedding, where everyone has a great time.
Time it right
Anyone with really young children will know that timing is EVERYTHING! If you miss that routine naptime, be prepared for all hell to break loose. To avoid the craziness and crankiness, perhaps organise an early morning or lunchtime wedding. The parents will definitely thank you.
Keep them busy with little jobs
Children love having responsibility, being big girls and boys. Whether it’s as flower girls or ring bearers, or giving out wedding favours, little jobs like this are sure to keep them busy.

Kid’s chill-out area
We absolutely love the idea of having a designated chill-out zone especially for kids, and our 2m teepees are just perfect for this. These beautiful little teepees can be styled as a special break-away area for kids to play and have fun. Fill them with games, treats, Ipads, and make it super comfy. The kids will be entertained for hours.
Or deck out our traditional tipis with beds, pillows and blankets, and once it gets late you’ve got an awesome place for the kids to crash out. They’ll love sleeping alongside their friends inside one of our amazing teepees. What a special experience!
Colouring-in
We know that dinnertime can be challenging with smaller children, so setting up colouring-in activities and crayons on the table will make it more pleasant for everyone. They don’t have to be stock standard, personalise them to your wedding and print them on lovely paper. Kids love colouring-in, and they will be excited to create their own special gift for the bride and groom.
Kid’s entertainment
A more expensive option, but the kid’s will love it! Face painters and magicians, or if you want to go all out, a jumping castle! You’ll probably find half the adults on it by the end of the night.
Babysitting
Maybe you’d like the children to be involved in parts of the wedding early on, but perhaps not in the later stages. Why not organise a babysitter? There are several services on the Gold Coast, such as Miss Poppins, who offer nannies especially for events such as weddings. They’ll keep the kids entertained throughout the day, making sure they are fed and supervised. The perfect opportunity for parents to let their hair down and relax.
