We’re all familiar with the ‘destination wedding’, but couple Krystle and Ben did the opposite, and returned home to tie the knot. This beautiful couple organised their entire Gold Coast wedding from overseas, communicating with Gold Coast wedding suppliers from their new home in Singapore.
When their wedding day finally arrived, Krystle and Ben set up a large kata tipi on the grounds of the picturesque Kirra Hill Community Centre, with views for days up and down the coast. The stars were bright and the vibes chilled, it was the perfect setting to celebrate the vows of the newlyweds.
How did you know a tipi wedding was for you? The vision for our wedding was a big party out under the stars, overlooking the ocean on the grounds of Kirra Hill Community Centre. We chose a tipi instead of a marquee as it naturally complemented the venue and it could be set up in so many different ways, which was important for us being an outdoor wedding, and incase of rain or wind.
What advice do you have for other couples planning a tipi wedding? Book early! The tipi was one of the first things we booked and we were very lucky to secure one. A lot of the weekends around the date for our wedding were booked already.
How would you describe your style? We opted for minimal styling, because the tipis are so stunning on their own. The festoon lighting is a must, and added the perfect ambience, creating a warm and inviting space once the sun went down. We also had a gorgeous hanging greenery installation, which hung from the centre of our tipi and added that special touch. Our dance floor was out under the stars, surrounded by fairy lights.
Please describe your overall experience with having your reception with the tipi? The tipi was beyond perfect! It created a beautiful and warm space for guests wanting a break from the dance floor and looked absolutely stunning! Hannah was amazing throughout the whole process and made planning so easy, especially from abroad. I definitely recommend having a tipi wedding, especially for couples wanting a casual, yet magical experience.
